The Nuremberg Trials
The Nuremberg trials were held to bring Nazi War criminals to justice. These trials were a series of 13 trials carried out in Nurenberg, Germany, between 1945 and 1949. The accused were Nazi Party officials, high-ranking military officers, along with German industrialists, lawyers, and doctors indicted on charges of crimes against peace and crimes against humanity. Nazi leader Adolf Hitler committed suicide and consequently never stood trial.
These trials paved the way for an international court to mete out justice in the vent of genocide and subsequent crimes against humanity.
The Indictment

The Nazi Research Experiments
The urge to acquire new medical knowledge superseded respect for those who suffered the procedures. Faced with the challenge of medical questions, researchers sought opportunities to carry out any required experiment. These experiments were carried out on human subjects in asylums, hospitals, and concentration camps within occupied territories where legal regulations and sanctions did not apply. High value was placed upon acquiring medical knowledge without regard to human suffering.
Nazi Extermination and Genocide
After the invasion of Poland in September 1939, the Secret AKtion T4 euthanasia program, a systematic murder of German, Austrian and Polish hospital patients with mental or physical disabilities authorized by Hitler, was initiated by the SS to eliminate “life unworthy of life.” The designation for people they deemed unfit.
In 1941, the momentum gained in the secretive killing of hospital patients led to the creation of extermination camps to implement the “FINAL SOLUTION.” Targeted individuals included Jews, Roma and Soviet POWs. Their systematic murder by gassing was preceded by a wave of hands-on killing carried out by the SS.
The terms extermination and death camp were interchangeable within the Nazi system. Each term refers to the camp’s primary function of GENOCIDE. Murder was not limited to camps. People were lined up along ravines and shot by soldiers.
The Nazis abducted millions of foreigners for enslaved persons and camp labour, a guise for the extermination program. Prisoners represented a quarter of the Reich workforce at a death rate of 75% as a result of starvation, disease, exhaustion, execution and physical brutality.
Canada and MAID
Four percent of deaths in Canada are due to Medical Assistance in Dying MAID. The number of people who have died from MAID in Canada since legalization in 2016 has increased from 1,000 to over 13,000 by 2020.
A potential expansion of MAID to “mature minors” is in the works. Human rights reports the actions of a Canadian seeking MAID because he could not afford housing.
This expansion of MAID is the government’s inhumane and inexpensive mechanism to hide the system’s failure to provide citizens with their rightful needs due to the mismanagement of taxpayers’ money.
This legislation of death as a medical procedure in the form of MAID is testimony to an over-medicalization of death in Canada. The administration or provision of lethal drugs to patients should not be part of healthcare as its introduction erodes the ethical and moral foundation of society.
MAID is incompatible with a physician’s duty to heal. Allowing MAID will lead doctors to become malevolent, lacking in compassion and participating in the act of GENOCIDE.
