DICTATORSHIP

Definition:

A dictatorship is a form of government by one man or a group of leaders that hold power with few or no limitations. It is absolute authority in any sphere.

Similar:

Despotism, autocracy, tyranny, authoritarianism, absolutism, fascism, oppression, suppression, repression, subjugation and domination.

Fidel Castro

During his nearly five decades of Cuban rule, Castro built a repressive state that punished all forms of dissent. His dark legacy lives on after his death.

An innumerable number of citizens were incarcerated in appalling conditions. Terrorized and persecuted, entire generations were denied fundamental human rights. Repressive policies lead to economic hardships.

Castro continued to repress all civil and political rights. While other countries ended their authoritarian rule, Fidel’s brutality and harsh punishments for all dissidents kept his coercive system in place for decades.

This repression was codified by law and enforced by security forces tied to the state. As well as a weak judicial system void of independence.

Cuba was a nation enveloped in FEAR. Civilians were denied the exercise of AUTONOMY, their fundamental human rights and pressured to show allegiance.

Abusive tactics were developed during Fidel’s reign. Beatings, surveillance, random incarcerations. His public refusal to fulfill an agreement or obligation and a repetitive contradiction of truth. The Cuban government is still exercising these tactics, repressing individuals and groups who criticize and call for fundamental human rights. Erratic arrests and detention prevent Rights defenders, independent journalists and others from gathering and freedom of movement. Incarceration is pre-emptive to avoid participation in peaceful marches and political meetings.

The Cuban government refuses to recognize human rights organizations, alternate political parties, independent unions or free press. International monitors are denied access to the island to monitor human rights.

Justin Trudeau alluded that Fidel Castro was a dictator, and he did not intend to minimize the former leader’s abuse of the Cuban citizen’s human rights. He further added that upon meeting with any leaders of a country, he will always bring up the issue of HUMAN RIGHTS. Further commenting that Fidel was a remarkable leader and a FAMILY FRIEND. He acknowledged that many people had experienced great difficulty in Cuba as Fidel was a POLARIZING figure, and there were grave concerns about the violation of HUMAN RIGHTS.

OUR FATHER’S CALL

“I am sending you out to rebellious leaders who have rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day. The people I am sending you to are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, “This is what the Lord says.” And whether they listen or not, they are a rebellious house. And you, my sons and daughters, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you, and they surround you like scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them. They are in complete rebellion against me. You must speak my truth of FREEDOM to them whether they listen or fail to listen. I make you as unyielding and hardened as they are. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them. Go now and speak to them, “This is what the Lord says,” whether they listen or fail to listen. My spirit lifts you and enables you. My strong hand is upon you.”

To my fellow Canadian and global citizens, our Father in heaven is encouraging each of us to hear his words of truth and to stop and meditate on where our nations are going regarding our leaders. May we allow God to help us face the fact he is revealing to us and accept his help in making a CHOICE to stand and speak up for the FREEDOM that God has given each and every individual-OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS.
