Chanel lived a unique lifestyle.  With her tanned skin, boyish figure, cropped hair, financial independence, and active living, she influenced a new way of life for her day’s modern women.  As she packaged and marketed her independent style and attitude, the bar was set for the twentieth century.

Chanels personal taste inspired her creative fashion design.  Her clothing and private living space took on the palette of her favourite colours, black, white and beige.  Her various art and theatrical taste influenced her fashion collection.  Attending a ball dressed as a figure from a famous painting, she reworked the costume into a woman’s suit.  She garnered Russian employees’ artistic skills as they worked their creativity to her embroidery shops’ exact specifications.

Coco Chanel’s clothing line was known for her strong reputation of perfection, proper fit and taste.    The successful Chanel look advance through the 1920s and 1930s.  Vogue magazine applauded the “little black dress,” accelerating it forward as the universal fashion basic.  The dress simple by day and elegant by night, with tulle and lace, added to romanticize the look.
